The Cape Town Market is one of the “big four” fresh produce markets in South Africa. The market was privatized by the City of Cape Town in March 2004 and the new owners in conjunction with all stakeholders are committed to the transformation of a business that was in decline into something that is vibrant and successful.

The recovery business plan focuses on the needs of the farmer. The farmer is our principal client and therefore great care is taken to ensure that their produce is kept secure, is sold for the best possible price and that the cash proceeds are protected and paid to the farmer promptly.

The Cape Town Market is the home of nine national market agents and collectively the owners and the agents are seizing the opportunity provided by the privatization in order to re-invent the business to meet the needs of the farmer producers and the 21st century.

The Cape Town Market is a commission based market and all our staff subscribe to the principles and intent of the Customer Covenant.
